“Whether the weather be fine,
Or whether the weather be not,
Whether the weather be cold,
Or whether the weather be hot,
We'll weather the weather
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not!”
Watching kids gleefully enjoying the weather, whatever the weather, is a lot of fun. However, it's more fun for everyone in the rain if they don't get soaking wet in the process (and you don't have so much laundry to do). So whether for leisure, or out of necessity when you're walking somewhere in the rain, a decent rain jacket is a wardrobe essential for your kids.
Here is some brilliant rainwear kids for the 2015 Winter/Spring season. Remember... there's no bad weather, only inappropriate clothing!
This
Coral Softshell Jacket by ELKA denim, Denmark is so darn cute. I love the detail with the fitted waistline, the contrasting zips and domes and those pockets which are so handy when a child needs to carry a tissue. Both waterproof and windproof, your daughter will stay cosy and dry in this jacket. The colour is one of my faves!
If you're after a serious weatherproof jacket, this
jacket from Marmot looks like the business. “The waterproof/breathable MemBrain® fabric is made with a two-layer, seam-taped construction and stuffed with Thermal R™ insulation. Soft brushed lining in the collar and shoulders add a touch of comfort and Angel-Wing Movement™ offers a free-moving design. Snap-off, down-fill hood, built in powder skirt and a plethora of pockets give the Freerider a finishing touch.” Phew!
The
ecomonical Para Rubber jackets are a great option, and I've heard great things about them. Reflective strips make the jacket an excellent option if your kids are often walking to/from kindy or school. Elastic cuffs also help to keep kids clean and dry.
The
original microfleece lined jacket from Puddle Jumpers is designed with an extra long tail at the back. I find this sort of detail so useful in prolonging the life of a jacket - and making sure my little ones stay dry when out in the elements (it is just amazing where snow will creep if allowed! There's nothing much more uncomfortable than snow in your undies... or so my three year old tells me!)
Pumpkin Patch has this adorable print available in sizes 2-6, and it's a great option in the affordable price bracket. Elasticised cuffs help to keep moisture out, and it's fully lined for extra warmth.
This jacket is a great deal as it's part of a set with the waterproof pants. It's guaranteed to keep the moisture out with the seams all fully sealed and velcro and snap closures. It is also such a bright, happy print for an overcast or stormy day!
Paired with some gumboots and
essential winter accessories your kids will be set to weather the weather whatever the weather Once you're prepared, maybe you'll make it up the ski fields – or at least get outside and jump in some muddy puddles!
