Wet weather gear for kids
Sigh. The rain is here and it's getting colder and darker every day. There's not much I find more horrific than the thought of being trapped inside with my kids day after day!
I reckon it's essential to get outside in winter so that everyone doesn't go crazy; after all - there's only so much Peppa Pig I can handle!
The secret to getting out and about in winter is a good set of outdoors clothing. It's not going to come cheap but it's worth investing in and a good set of waterproofs will last through several children. I'm just in the process of purchasing some new waterproofs for my one year old as the overalls her sisters wore are now full of holes.
Here are some of the cool waterproofs I found while checking things out.
The most well-known item in the Puddle Jumpers range is the overalls. They're funky, lightweight and perfect for letting your kids run and jump in puddles. The overalls have a quick and easy adjustable clip and strap system and smaller sizes are designed to be slightly wider through the backside to fit any nappy. They're Reinforced through the crotch seam and a double layer of fabric on the knees and bum for extra protection and durability.
But you might not know that Puddle Jumpers also makes a whole range of wet weather gear including jackets, hats, booties and neck warmers. All in great colours and guaranteed to last.
How fab are these red circle waterproof jackets? If you're after something a bit different, head over to Hoopla Kids. You'll not only find these funky jackets but also a whole range of weather gear in cool colours like orange, yellow and purple. I don't know about you, but I get fed up when stuff like this only comes in blue and pink - so great to see all the colours of the rainbow!
This rainwear has a high tearing strength and is flexible and comfortable for children to play in. Perfect for the sandpit, watching Saturday sport, out on the farm or anywhere you can think of. These also feature 3M reflective stripes on the pants for high visibility in lower light.

This adorable hooded jacket is fun and fresh! The graphic animal print is colourful with a hand drawn flair. And the jacket is water resistant, perfect for outdoor play on the cooler days.
Here's something sweet - waterproof dresses!! If you've got a small person like mine - who will only wear dresses, this little dress from Delinky Kids is perfect! Made from quality waterproof fabric, this dress won't rip or tear. It has snapdome shoulder clips and a generous design to fit over clothing. It also comes in four different colours for the fashionistas. It's only for 0-2 years but totally cute!
As well as wet, it can also (of course!) be downright cold in winter. I loved the look of these fleece lined pants for keeping kids snuggly and warm on chilly days. Made by Little Ducks, they're 100% waterproof but also machine washable and easy to get on and off. (Love the beaming faces in this picture as well!).
And finally, have a look at these capes for kids from Toi Design. What a brilliant idea for popping over your kids and whatever they're travelling in or on. Available in four cool colours, they're ideal for wearing in buggies, cycle seats or backpacks. They're also lightweight and easy to put over normal clothes.
