Roadtested: Sticky Tiki Wall Decals

Dotty Elephant Fun

2 August 2010

I'm not sure what it is about elephants, I can't remember back far enough, but for some reason, kids just love them.  Elephants are a firm feature in both of my children's bedrooms, and the Sticky Tiki Dotty Elephant Wall Decals have created a bit of controversy between my two little ones.  The problem is, you see, my toddler LOVES them.  When we first got them, we played a bit of a game with them.  One day they would be in the hallway, then the next day she would wake up and they would have marched their way on into the kitchen, lounge, or decided to look over her while sleeping.  It was great fun, and she'd get very excited when she'd see that they had left their home from the day before and would immediately run around searching for them.  But then, one day, the elephants marched themselves into her baby brother's room.  They (ok, I) decided that that would be their home from now on.  They matched the decor perfectly, went well with the themes, and looked completely and absolutely "right" there.

Where the controversy comes in is that my toddler wants them back.  Badly.  She'll try and climb up to get them, and if she does manage to get up on top of his drawers, she'll rip them off the walls and take them into her own room.  She doesn't blame me for taking them back to her little brothers room, she blames him.  She's not happy with him at all for stealing her elephants.  Maybe it's time for me to buy a second set.

From a product perspective, the Sticky Tiki decals are simply the best.  The fabric decals come on and off the wall easily, and are like no other decals I have used.  They have a unique feel to them, which I'm guessing comes from the fabric quality, but you really can pull them off and off, scrunch them, wrangle them off a small child, and they still look fabulous and continue to restick.  I'm not sure how many times the elephants have been moved around now, but the sticky backing has certainly lasted a lot longer than I would have expected and still has plenty of life left in it.  The other thing I should note is that we have wallpaper walls - a lot of decals can't be used on papered walls, but the Sticky Tiki ones come off and on with absolutely no damage.

I can't recommend the Sticky Tiki decals highly enough.

The Dotty Elephants are priced at $70 NZD from the Sticky Tiki website.
