I had so much fun designing my son's nursery, and I took inspiration from colors and designs I loved for myself and tweaked them for a nursery.

First, choosing paint colors was a somewhat arduous task - we went through literally 28 shades of blues and greens for the squares on the feature wall, finally deciding on 3 blues and 3 greens, all from Lowe's. (blues - Sea Wave, Seafarer and Beach Sparkle; greens - Green Gecko, Meadow Twilight and Parsley Sprig) The brown is Cliveden Virginia Soil. It was particularly difficult to choose a brown - this one looks a little purple on the swatch but was the only brown out of about 10 that didn't look too gray. My husband mapped out the feature wall in AutoCad (a computer program) so that we knew exact measurements, then we (or I should say he since I was 7 months pregnant) taped off the grid with masking tape (make sure to buy the most expensive kind so that you can remove it easily).

The furniture is "Urban Collection" Munire that we purchased from a store in Birmingham called Storkland, but it's everywhere online. The bedding is Area Baby White Mini Organic Crib Bedding purchased from Design Public (great site!).

I bought many Ugly Dolls for above the hutch because I thought they were unique and fun for a boy. I also bought a few BlaBla dolls from a local toy store. The white elephant and giraffe are banks from Pottery Barn Kids. The bowl full of pacifiers is from Anthropologie, as is the bowl on the bottom shelf where I store diapers.

The rocker is the Sleepytime Rocker from NurseryWorks, purchased on Modern Nursery. The brown dot blanket is by Dwell from Baby Universe.

The monkey art above the crib is my favorite part of the nursery - the wall decal is a vintage wallpaper silhouette from Inke Heiland bought on Romp. I didn't want it to be permanently on the wall, so I bought a large canvas from a craft store and painted a tree in the same color as the wall. There are also wall hooks and small pictures (not shown) from Urban Outfitters.

This nursery is my favorite room in my house - I suggest to other moms-to-be to take your time and buy pieces you love for the nursery...you'll be spending a lot of time there over the next few years!
