Handmade Heaven: StitchbirdStitchbird decorates in styleAimee Brock08 March 2011 Finding the perfect lamps and cushions to decorate your nursery or children’s room is nothing short of impossible. Mass-produced or department store patterns and prints are often either ugly or made with synthetic materials. So finding the gorgeous array of 100% cotton, linen and canvas-mix imported prints at Stitchbird Fabrics made my day. Particularly as Stitchbird stocks designer Heather Ross, and I’ve just finished my own daughter’s room in her Far, Far Away ranges. The finishing touch was finding the ‘Princess and the Pea’ line still available in Stitchbird’s online store when it’s been sold out elsewhere for a long time! Even better was discovering that Stitchbird offers a custom-made service assembling together their gorgeous imported and handmade fabrics with standard lampshades and cushion sizes. So if you’re not a sewer or a crafter yourself, you can simply go through their gorgeous fabric ranges, choose one you love, pick a lampshade or cushion size, and get them to make it up for you. Check out these amazing Echino and Kokka prints on previous customers’ lampshades, and a handprinted Letterhead fabric lampshade by Melbourne designer Shannon Lambden. ![]() ![]() ![]() About the author: Aimee Brock is a life-long admirer of handmade crafts and gifts, and recently started her own handmade children’s label, lily pad designs. |
