Press Here by Hervē Tullet

Ready?

2 April 2012

I have a copy of Press Here by Hervē Tullet sitting beside me now, for review.  Normally when books arrive, the first thing that happens to them is I skim through them, and then read them to the kids.  They are the real critics, right?  Well, not this book.  It’s not because it’s not good.  It’s great.  It’s fantastic.  It may well be the best children’s book I have ever looked at.  I keep picking it up, reading it, pressing the dots, shaking the pages, clapping my hands.  But when it’s this outstandingly good, do I dare hand it over to the kids?  I may never get it back!  And I do need to be certain, for I am positive that for the next month, at least, every night, I will be rubbing, pressing, shaking, turning, and clapping before bedtime.  I do not see this book leaving our regular routine for the foreseeable future once they have it in their hot little hands.  It is therefore imperative that I know I can handle all of this.  Can I?  Absolutely I can!  How could I not?  It’s beautiful, simple and very, very clever.  It’s not by any means a new book on the stands - it is well loved, available in multiple languages, and the reason behind extreme outbursts of clapping the world over.  If you don’t have this one already, it’s a must have for all little book shelves.

On a ‘where to buy note’, recently I’ve started buying all of my books from The Book Depository.  Prices are almost always better than what you can get them here, and most of the time, they even beat the NZ online sites for delivery times (oh, and it’s free delivery!).  You can purchase Press Here by Herve Tullet from The Book Depository here.
