Slow and steady

Minus 2kgs and counting!

25 June 2010

Where’s the magic pill??? Quick fix anyone??? It appears there is not one… so at this stage I have continued on the WW trail and I am thrilled to announce that I am now 2kgs down from my starting weight. 2kgs in 3 weeks – is that acceptable weight loss? Considering I have had birthday cake, takeaways, Daikoku with liberal serves of Yum Yum sauce and much much more I am actually pretty happy with that.

I made a list of positives that have so far come from this exercise –

  • Minus 2 kgs (it is only 2 but hey weight loss is weight loss, it is not like I need to lose 40kg so I need to expect it will be slower)
  • I no longer have the chunk of cake/caramel slice/muffin with every meal, if fact I don’t even consider it
  • More money in my pocket! I spent a lot on food….
  • Snacking on fruit rather than biscuits
  • Reduced muffin tops (not quite gone)

So today I hopped off the scales with a feeling of empowerment, weight is always something I think of and to feel like in 3 weeks I have some semblance of control is very satisfying. Last week I also did very little exercise but I have learnt from my mistakes and have exercised every day so far this week, rain, hail or shine. I think the trick is doing something you like in terms of exercise, I enjoy Karate and while I am no Mr Miyaji it is a serious workout and good for self defence. I have been walking daily - as a busy working Mum of two I have very little time to take a stroll between work, kindy pickups, swimming lessons, dinner, baths, play dates etc etc so I have been waiting till the kids are in bed and going for a speedy walk up main roads (safety conscious!) for around 40 mins. The goal for the coming week is to drink more water; I am a self confessed sugar free beverages junkie!

Slow and steady is getting me there … so why am I still looking for the quick fix?
