Weight Watching...

7 June 2010

A bit about me and my eating habits!!! I have two kids, Quinn almost 4 and Eve is 18 months. After Quinn I struggled to lose the weight (all 28 kgs of it!) and it never really all came off but with Eve I was back at my pre pregnancy (pre both pregnancies) weight within 9 weeks of her birth - however my body did not look the same at all. I have always distributed weight evenly across my body but now it is centered on my hips and stomach. I have a sweet tooth and can eat a lot!! I don't like exercise at all and not a day goes by that I don't wonder why I was not born with a supermodels metabolism. I decided to do something about it when I was about to buy a jacket online from the UK and checked my measurements - sorry but everything I own is a 10 I am NOT buying a jacket in a 12-14. But that is what I was. So the jacket is not winging its way to NZ and I am on a diet.

The last three days have been tough going, I like to think of them as 'easing' myself in to watching what I eat!! I picked Weight Watchers as my first trial. I have done it before (with results!) and it is something you can do while breastfeeding so a great option for all the Mummies not feeling so yummy. As I am no longer breastfeeding I get a paltry 20 points per day!! For those of you not familiar with WW foods are allocated a points value and technically you can eat whatever you want within those points. It is not as easy as it sounds and you do have to be aware of every morsel that goes into your mouth (no snacking on the kids left overs!).

Progress so far
Saturday - Going well - Doh! Lamb Roast and a Jelly Tip! Ended up on 35 points!
Sunday - Going well, accidentally put a few items in my mouth without thinking - ended up on 26 points.
Monday - Yay 21 points! Ok it is one point over but seriously I normally probably eat 40 points per day!

So today I am feeling very righteous and if the rain would stop I would do a brisk walk around the block tonight (2 points credit - that would make it 19 points today!!). I have already packed my lunch for work tomorrow and have 10 points of food to have across the day and 10 for dinner tomorrow. Psychologically I think the first few days are the hardest while you adjust and then you feel like throwing the towel in some days (those days Jodi will get a LOT of texts from me!) but I do feel really positive that I have plan and lets face it my measurements are up on the site and I will be so embarrassed if they don't reduce. Anyone have any ideas on WW foods they have tried?? Look forward to my next positive update!!!
