Happy Pills

Thank you oh iPod God…

15 June 2010

Ok, first up, the good news, I have lost weight! I weighed in on Friday a little over 1kg down. Success!

Unfortunately, I didn’t feel elated as I should, nor did I feel like I was healthier in any way. I was in need of a high, a happy pill of sorts, something to push me upwards and onwards.

Action was needed – I mean, isn’t that the point of this, to feel healthier and better about myself? The solution has actually been quite simple. Music. Working out with the Wii is certainly better than sitting on the couch, but it lacks the up beat tempo and sense of full immersion into the exercise… add some music and we are off! It worked really well yesterday, I have set up a couple of 30 minute playlists for the Wii, and 45 minute playlists for the spin bike. Not only does it help you lose yourself in the exercise, for some reason the music makes you push yourself harder and certainly makes the time go quicker.

Here’s my food & exercise diary for the past few days… not as good as it possibly should be, but not as bad as it was… and it was the weekend afterall!

Putting it down ‘on paper’ like that really does make you examine what you are eating… I hadn’t really thought about the fact that two freddo frogs had passed my lips yesterday!

By the way, I am gluten free because I have coeliac’s disease. I’ll talk more about this in my next update…
