Cleansing!

The Liver Cleansing Diet

28 June 2010

Alright I have rethought the drastic diet and the slow and steady and have decided to go with a cleanse! I have followed Liver Cleansing before for quite some time and found that the weight loss is good but the health benefits are AMAZING. Clear eyes and skin, more energy (perfect for a sleep deprived Mum!) and everything just works better. So I started this morning…. Why wait??

I have an issue with cleanses that ask you to ingest chemicals or take something that is more laden with preservatives than a Mc’Ds burger. With the Liver Cleanse if you follow the food guide to the letter you do not need to supplement your diet at all with pills and potions so there are no set up costs. For those of you not familiar with the program the basic principals are as follows –
  • No preservatives or additives
  • No Dairy
  • No red meat
  • No refined sugar
  • No refined flour
  • No alcohol

In a nut shell everything you eat or drink should be pure and natural. Majority of what you eat is fruit and veges and as I am a fish lover I eat a ton of fish on this program. So take my meal plan for today –

Breakfast
2 Cups of water with lemon juice
1 Apple
1 Banana

Lunch
Salmon Sashimi
Vege and fruit juice (fresh juice)

Snack
Baby carrots
Grapes

Dinner
Boiled potatoes with lemon juice, olive oil and chopped herbs
Salad with grilled chicken

Across the years I have heard every possible excuse for not sticking to a diet or not trying a cleanse (mostly from my own mouth!!), there are some myths about liver cleansing that I want to dispel right now!

It is too expensive to eat healthy!
You are kidding me! Fruit and Veges are not more expensive than taking the family out for Mc’D’s. They are not more expensive than the Hells Pizza we had last night. Water is not more expensive than Coke Zero. If you eat this food and also continue to snack on everything else then yes you will have some hefty bills and will not lose any weight.

I would be hungry just eating that.
I appreciate that people have different appetites, if you are hungry feel free to eat. I fact on liver cleansing you can eat as much as you like! However whatever you eat must be within the program.

So wish me luck!! I have been just fine today and the juice actually has me feeling really full, so far I have not been hungry – whoop whoop! I will keep you posted!
