Handmade Heaven: DIY Silhouette portraits

The step by step guide

Silhouette portraits can be funky and modern or romantic and retro like cameo brooches. It’s up to you! To create oh-so-cool family portraits of your children, simply follow this step by step guide by Greta, my partner in our craft blog On Top of a Lily Pad.

Or if you are clever on the computer with digital images, follow these simple instructions for photoshop or paint.net (a free graphics programme that’s one step up from the normal paint that comes with Microsoft Office).

I love that with a silhouette you can record a ‘moment in time’ in your child’s facial features or hairstyle, right when they are at their cutest. In fact you could do one each year, to track their growth!
