Book of the week: Zog

The keenest dragon in school

8 November 2010

It’s no secret I am a fan of Julia Donaldson. When it comes to kids books that parents love too, she is simply a genius. I can recite several of her books by heart and given the choice, The Gruffalo and What the Ladybird Heard are always amongst my top picks from our bookshelf.

A magnificent new picture book from the creators of The Gruffalo, Zog is the keenest dragon in school. He’s also the most accident-prone, flying into trees and even setting his own wing on fire. Luckily, a mysterious little girl always comes by and patches up his bumps and bruises. But will she be able to help Zog with his toughest test yet: capturing a princess? And will Zog ever manage to win a gold star? Full of rollicking rhymes and dragon-filled mountain scenes, this is the latest adorable rhyming treat from the king and queen of the picture book world, starring an irrepressible hero who always gives his all!

Available from Fishpond for $28.47.
