Another fantastic New Zealand themed book, The Grumble Rumble Mumbler (Melanie Drewery) is all about the things that go bump in the night. The story features a cast of Maori monsters (including the taniwha, maero, taipo and the ngarara), and of course, explains away those scary night time noises. It's got a nice little twist at the end and I can imagine it being a great godsend to parents who have young ones who are scared of what might be lurking at night.
