BabyBaby Feeding Pillow

New look for an old favorite

16 July 2010

The hugely popular BabyBaby feeding pillow is now available in a fabulous new range of limited edition fabrics, including the newly added ‘Retro Awning’.

The BabyBaby feeding pillow has been a favorite among breastfeeding mums around the world since its inception eight years ago. Its unique 'U' shape ensures the pillow moulds to baby and Mum easily, comfortably and correctly.

Its height positions baby in the right place – at eye level with the breast – and its large surface size means it can be used to feed infants older than is possible with standard feeding supports. It’s filled with polystyrene beads encased in their own inner, so its height can be altered by adding or subtracting beads, and the cover can be removed and laundered.

The feeding pillow was one of the first products produced by the multi-award winning BabyBaby company, founded by New Zealander Jodee Reid, as a solution to her own breastfeeding problems.

“I was a beauty therapist and had a lot of back problems caused by leaning over clients all the time, so I was constantly at the chiropractor sorting out my neck and back. When I was breastfeeding my first son I found I was experiencing the same problems, and it made me think about the need for me to support my back rather than leaning over to accommodate my baby. The BabyBaby feeding pillow was the result, and Jodee says using it made a huge difference when she breastfed her second son for 13 months. “I didn’t have any back pain at all.”

She says the BabyBaby breastfeeding pillow is “all about Mum”.

“Mum’s posture improves immediately the pillow is placed around her waist. Baby is correctly positioned and not fussing, so Mum isn’t tempted to lean over to accommodate baby and put strain on her back. The pillow is also perfect for feeding twins simultaneously.”

Jodee says a lot of feeding aids focus on something to put baby on, rather than positioning it correctly. “This means that Mum is often still leaning over to accommodate a baby that’s not positioned high enough.”

She describes the new pillow range as “cool and very decor-friendly”.

“It features a machine washable, pre-shrunk 100% cotton patterned top with a black cotton base, so they’re rather lovely to have lying around the living room when they’re not being used. Of course, our ever-popular polar fleece covers in plain colours are still available for those who prefer this fabric.”

Just in time for World Breast Feeding Week (August 1-7) BabyBaby have released ‘Retro Awning’ with a very retro price tag of NZ$55.00 (normally $89.00).

BabyBaby are also offering free, ‘This Side Next’ wrist bands, which remind mum the importance of feeding evenly of both sides.  Check them out at www.babybaby.co.nz.
